Cancún · Isla Mujeres · Cozumel · Riviera Maya
Mexico’s Caribbean coast in Quintana Roo offers clear, shallow water, reef-lined shores and islands within easy reach — and it is a relatively short passage from Florida. Boat ownership here has a different rhythm from the Pacific side, and the right vessel reflects it.
The Mexican Caribbean stretches from Cancún and Isla Mujeres in the north, down the Riviera Maya past Puerto Morelos and Playa del Carmen, to Cozumel offshore and beyond. Marinas are spread along the coast and on the islands. Waters are generally warm and clear, and much of the coastline is protected by the Mesoamerican Reef system, with marine parks around Cancún, Isla Mujeres and Cozumel.
Center consoles and express sportfishing boats are popular for reef and offshore fishing, and the area is well known for seasonal sailfish activity. Catamarans suit shallow water and island hopping, while flybridge and express motor yachts are common for entertaining. Draft matters here: some channels, harbors and anchorages are shallow, so confirm a boat’s draft against where you actually plan to use it.
Because the passage from South Florida is relatively short, some vessels in the Mexican Caribbean were bought in the United States and brought south, and buyers here sometimes look at boats in Florida. Our current listings include several vessels located in Florida. A cross-border purchase raises questions about flag, documentation, import status and delivery that you should resolve with qualified professionals before closing.
